I almost got trapped into a 3 year contract with Verizon

I’m working at home today so I was here to answer the house phone when it rang. It was an 800 number and when I said hello there was no immediate response. So I knew that it was a computer dialed call. After saying hello the 2nd time, after she read her script the only thing I decided to change was to add the insurance on the phone since I’m not currently covered. As she was reading the “fine” print she mentioned a 3 year agreement. When she was done I asked her if that was a 3 year contract and when she confirmed it, I said forget it. She suggested a 2 year agreement and I still said no thanks and that I’m not doing anything right now to lock myself into a contact.

I guess Verizon is trying to “lock” who they can so they don’t switch over to AT&T and the iPhone, which is an awesome device. But I do not want an iPhone. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have one, but I don’t want one if I have spend that much money on it myself.

Still, I’d like to get my hands on one for a bit to just try it out. I may have to make a trip to the Apple Store in the next couple of weeks. I’ll be sure to leave my credit cards at home so I won’t be tempted!

I’ve had my RAZR for over a year and I’ve been really happy with it and only use it for voice calls. I don’t have the need for any of the data or text messaging using it, so unless that need changes I won’t need a new cell phone for quite some time.
